The Unexpected

Well, friends...the day is here! Hadley Lyn Boothby was born yesterday (6/1) at 5:22pm. SHE IS BEAUTIFUL!!!! She weighs 7 lb. 1 oz. and is 19 3/4 inches long. Now the rest of the story. She was born with a heart defect called "Transposition of the great arteries." It basically means that her aorta and pulmonary artery are switched in her heart. The doctors have been amazing and have actually already done a procedure for the short term. Long term, she is going to have to have open heart surgery in the next week in Portland OR. It has been a whirlwind of activity as we have endured the delivery and not being able to hold our beautiful daughter. However, we are so happy that she is in good hands, stable, and calm today. And we are finding a new peace with our situation. Our families and friends have also been stellar and for this we are thankful. I am writing from a computer in the hospital right now and am going to attempt to attach pictures I took of her. No guarantees here!
